The School Garden

The school’s organic garden was officially opened by Minister for Food and Horticulture, Trevor Sargent TD, in June ’09.

The garden has raised beds for growing vegetables and herbs; native Irish trees; a garden pond; fruit bushes; a wildflower meadow; a butterfly-friendly garden and a polytunnel for winter gardening. We also have a composting area.

RTE’s ‘Ear to the Ground’ programme made a special feature on our garden. The initiative has been filmed from the beginning and a DVD was issued to all schools in the country.

Our school was filmed by ‘Ear to the Ground’. They followed us as we changed a field into a beautiful and fruitful organic garden. We’ve also been on TV3’s “Ireland AM”
