Le Chéile Grand Opening

By | 28th January 2018

We thought this day would never come. On Friday the 26th of January, Holy Trinity held the inauguration of its long-awaited Le Chéile building. Le Chéile, the Irish for ‘Together’ is a new addition to our school that has been carefully designed to cater for children with special educational needs. Minister of State for Disability Issues, Finian McGrath, was among those in attendance at the ceremony. He said a few words before cutting the ribbon to officially mark the occasion. During his speech he commented on the warm, welcoming atmosphere he felt upon entering Holy Trinity.

It’s been all hands on deck in the lead-up to this momentous day. Throughout the school, children have been busy creating poetry, artwork and musical performances to give Le Chéile the special welcome it deserves. One such poem, beautifully written by Senan from 3rd class, tells the story behind Le Chéile.

As we watched it grow brick by brick
a roof and windows, overall it felt quite quick.
Although at the time it felt quite slow
and we wondered – when will this building ever grow?

But Mr Henry knew, Is féidir agus is fiú.
To our fellow students who need extra support,
this space is for you but let’s all get on board
and show respect, togetherness and to include all
through friendship, lessons and even playing ball.

Le Chéile, Le Chéile a place with a dream
a building for all students because we are a team.
So to staff, parents and students, remember this –
There’s no strength without unity
so let’s carry this through our great school and community.

Is fiú agus is féidir – It is worthwhile and possible.
Holy Trinity if we remember this, our school will be unstoppable!

Ní neart go cur Le Chéile.
