Pack your sandwiches…we’re on our way to Croker!! The senior boys’ team gave a display of true heart and resilience on Thursday afternoon to overcome a strong Shankill side and advance to the final of the Sciath Cumann na Gael.

Aided by a first-half breeze, Trinity built up an early lead with some fine point-taking by Scott Ramsey, Eoin Abernethey and Daniel Barry. The boys were two points to the good at half time but were against the elements in the second period. However, solid displays from such players as Jamie Cullen and Max Mandaji were to keep our noses in front for some time.

The southsiders did take the lead with ten minutes left on the clock, until a long ball by Clyde Ryan bounced fortuitously into the opposition goal to give us the advantage once again. This time, we didn’t let it slip, and two closing points sealed the victory for the boys of Donaghmede.

It was a day when our team spirit shone through, and a special mention must be given to substitutes Ryan Walsh, Cian Rodgers, Evan Moore, Evan O’Meara, Jake Bracken, Seán Browne, Clyde Ryan, Evan McDonough and Ethan Dalton who gave us that crucial edge on the day.

Now the dream of Croke Park has become a reality for these young stars and, together with our girls’ team, we look forward to bright days in the dark winter months!

Trinity Abú!!
