Girl’s Mini-leagues

By | 16th May 2018

During the last number of weeks over fifty girls from  3rd and 4th class took part in Gaelic football mini-leagues. The girls were placed into teams representing some of the finest counties of Ireland; Limerick, Mayo, Clare, Meath, Galway and Sligo. The girls were very well looked after by some of our 5th and 6th class pupils who excelled in their roles as managers. There were some very tough battles during the matches but all of the girls got stuck in and gave each game 100 per cent! The final was played between Galway and Limerick on Monday 14th May during lunchtime and proved to be a real nail biter. In the end Limerick came out on top with just a  goal the difference between the two excellent teams. Ms. Monaghan and Ms. O’Neill were delighted to see how enthusiastic the girls were about football. We are very hopeful that all of the girls who took part in the leagues will come out and play football with us in the upcoming school year 2018/19. We would also strongly encourage any girl in the school to get involved with your local G.A.A. team to get those skills developing over the summer months!
