We recently tried our hand at some debating here in Holy Trinity. Debating helps children to develop essential critical thinking skills – the ability to create reasoned and well-thought-out arguments in addition to questioning the evidence behind a particular viewpoint. It’s also a great way to work on oral language skills such as public speaking, listening, comprehension, expanding vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, the list goes on. There’s no debating the fact that this was a huge success and will be revisited next year and for years to come. Lots of hard work went into the preparing, organising and running of the debates.
